EMDR therapy in central new jersey

Discover the strength that’s already within you.

Something has you feeling stuck.

You don’t have to stay that way.

If you have been impacted by trauma…

If you’re stressed…

Trauma is a buzzword right now; but what is it really and how do you heal from it?

Here’s what trauma is: your physiological response to a perceived serious threat against you or someone close to you.

Here’s what’s important: Our traumatic reactions are as individual as we are.

What that means for healing: Our brain is always at work to heal itself. With the right set of tools, we can unlearn trauma responses that were once adaptive for us, but now are no longer needed because we have survived. We have the power to rewire our brain and choose our response instead of reacting out of fear.

Temporary stress is good for us. When we’re faced with a problem, it can propel us to action and give us energy, focus, and motivation to accomplish that which is important to us. A stress-free life is not the goal.

However, chronic, persistent stress can lead to a host of mental and physical conditions, as well as a general dissatisfaction with our lives. We can work together to help you use stress to your advantage when you need it and relieve yourself of it when you don’t.

Hi, I’m emily.

I’m here because I believe that through talk therapy we can gain insight into the roots of our problematic thoughts and behaviors, but to achieve meaningful change we have to do something. Because of this, I specialize in the treatment of trauma and stress and integrate several modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), sandplay therapy, mindfulness meditation, walking sessions, and trauma informed chair yoga.

Specializing in helping you embrace the strength within yourself so that you can handle whatever life brings.

  • Rewire your brain. Heal your wounds. Embrace life.

  • Use your stress for good. Regulate. Breathe easy.
